Nov 2007 - Playpark Maintenance Day Update

The playpark committee would like to thank those hardy souls who turned up on Saturday 27th October and helped repair the small climber, small slide and the picnic tables. Additionally, many thanks to Brendon who organised the day, collected the materials and erected the new fence along the rear edge of the park. The next committee meeting is in the diary for January - more members would be welcome to ensure that we can keep the park open and safe for our many hundreds of annual visitors.

Sept 2007 - Playpark Maintenance Day and Cheese & Wine Update

The playpark committee are organising a maintenance day for SATURDAY 27TH OCTOBER and would like your support to help spruce up the park before winter arrives. If possible, please contact us beforehand to let us know you're coming or just turn up on the day.

No experience/skills/tools necessary; just a sense of humour and some community spirit!

Also recently held was Louise's annual cheese and wine evening which, through a combination of ticket sales and some great raffle prizes, raised over £400 for the playpark fund this year. Thanks to Louise and Richard for hosting so effortlessly!

July 2007 - Village Events Update

Two great events, the Redmile Summer Ball and a village barbecue were held in late June and mid-July, raising over £1000 to help fund the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Playpark. For those who haven't yet seen themselves in OK! magazine, there are photos of the Ball available here...

Additionally, St Peter's Church held the annual church fair (inside due to the inclement weather!) on Saturday 7th July and raised £260. However, St Peter's is in need of additional assistance to help meet its operational costs over the coming years and all interested parties are cordially invited to attend the fundraising kick-off in September - details in the diary.

The Local Elections are round the corner in early May and Melton BC have raised the need for a second Redmile resident who would be willing to stand for the six-seat parish council.

March 2007 - Playpark Fundraiser Update

The first two events of the Playpark fundraising calendar are unveiled. On Thursday 29th March there will be a Children & Toddler's Easter Egg hunt starting at 3.30pm in the park (£2 per child) - details in the Diary section.

For the grown-ups, a Summer Ball is being organised - to be held at the Peacock Inn on Friday 29th June. This promises to be the social event of the summer and places are limited - so book early!

March 2007 - NHW Update

Leicestershire police would like all locals to be vigilant of suspicious door-to-door salespeople, currently offering dusters in this area.

In addition, on Thursday 15th March, a jack russell terrier named Tizzy was stolen from a garden in Waltham on the Wolds. Police are warning all pet owners to be vigilant following the theft of an additional four dogs from a nearby village within the last month.

If you have any information on either of these topics, please contact Leics police directly on 0116 222 2222.

March 2007

March and April are shaping up to be busy months in the village with Mother's Day and Easter activities featuring high in the website Diary section.

Also in March is this year's annual parish meeting, to be held at 7.30pm on Monday the 12th March at Plungar Village Hall, which offers you a convenient opportunity to discuss your thoughts on the running of the village directly with council members.

And, as the weather improves with the spring, this year's playpark maintenance rota swings into action and will be complemented by a soon-to-be-announced series of fundraising events - many thanks to all who give up their time to help.
