May 2013 - Redmile will be busy at the end of May
Belvoir Castle is hosting this year's Caravan Club National event during the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. Be warned that traffic in and around the village will be heavier than usual...
Feb 2013 - The Windmill Inn announced as Gastro Pub of the Year!
The Windmill Inn in Redmile, run for the last 11 years by David and Kirsten Rutt, was recently voted as the Best Gastro Pub in the East Midlands Newspapers' 2012 Food and Drink Awards - congratulations to all involved!
Jan 2013 - Redmile School closed on 21st January
Redmile School has been closed today due to the snow but should reopen tomorrow - please keep an eye on their website for more details.
Nov 2012 - Buffalo Gals in concert
The Buffalo Gals will be arriving in Redmile at the start of December for an evening traditional American music. With an authentic sound driven by fiddle, banjo, percussive step dance, and soaring harmonies, they produce an irresistible show packed with all the excitement, passion and fun of Appalachian, Bluegrass, Blues and Cajun tunes and songs. Oct 2012 - Redmile Christmas Fayre
The Redmile Christmas Fayre will be held at 6pm on Thursday 29th November in St Peter's Church. Come along to sample and buy a wide range of high quality and home made Christmas goods!
June 2012 - Fun run cancelled and The Peacock Inn reopens
The fun run planned for the 8th July has been cancelled. However, the next community event - the Barn Dance planned at the Morley's farm on the 23rd June - is going ahead as planned. Tickets are already selling fast so don't miss out on the social event of the month!
The Peacock Inn has also reopened - more updates to follow!
May 2012 - Redmile announces fun run and fresh pizza comes to the village!
There will be fun run held on the 8th July to help raise further funds for St Peter's Church and also support the Nottingham University Hospital's Kinder Appeal. More details and an entry form available in the diary.
A new food service arrived in the village this week. Purely Wood Fired offer pizzas made fresh to order and will be available on Main Street (next to the playpark) most Wednesday's from 5.00pm to 7.30pm. Mmmmmm.....
April 2012 - Peacock Inn Update and New Parish Council Website
Rumour has it that The Peacock Inn will be undergoing an extensive refurbishment over the next couple of months and re-open in time for the summer!
Also, the Parish Council have recently launched their new website.

July 2011 - Mums and Toddlers Group Takes Summer Break
The weekly Mums and Toddlers Group, held on Wednesdays in St Peter's Church, is now on holiday until September.
December 2010 - Christmas Activities in Redmile
There's a lot going on in Redmile this month as you can see in the Diary section. The Christmas Market raised over £300 for the community fund, despite the atrocious weather, and Martin Simpson performed as peerlessly as usual for a packed audience in the Church on Thursday 9th. There is also a Christmas Tree decoration competition starting on the 18th December - open to anyone who wishes to enter. Trees must be self-standing and without electric lights. July 2010 - Second Vintage Fayre is a hit!
The second annual Vintage Fayre, held in Redmile on Saturday 26th June, attracted another large audience thanks to the wide range of stalls and activities as well as the baking hot weather. In the playpark, there was a wide range of entertainment on offer including Punch and Judy, a barbeque selling locally produced food, a World Cup Penalty competition (where the skills on show put our national team to shame!), a treasure hunt and various other things for all the family. In the church, many stalls sold a range of homemade cakes, preserves and other items. Thanks to all residents and locals who helped to put on such an excellent event which raised over £3,000 for local good causes. Fingers are crossed for 2011...
Apr 2010 - Sports Quiz Postponed
Who would have thought that a volcano in Iceland could cause so much trouble? The inaugural Sports Quiz at the Peacock Inn is now lacking a quizmaster and will be re-arranged in due course!
Jan 2010 - New Year's Events Added
New events for the village have been added to the diary section - please check for details of upcoming cinema screenings and other activities in St Peter's Church. There are plans afoot to hold the second Vintage Fayre again in June and, finally, this year's Park maintenance plans will be published following the upcoming committee meeting on the 18th Jan - all welcome to attend.
July 2009 - Redmile Vintage Fayre update
The inaugural Redmile Vintage Fayre on the 27th June was a huge success! The rain held until the evening so that everyone who came was able to enjoy the stalls, activities and attractions on offer. The event, combined with the following Wednesday's after-school rounders match, raised a massive £3,000 which contributes significantly towards the village community fund for this year. A heartfelt thankyou to all the organisers and visitors - here's to even bigger and better things for 2010!
June 2009 - Redmile Vintage Fayre comes to the village
A traditional summer fayre at St Peter's Church and in the Playpark. Stalls include vintage crafts, plants, home made preserves and chutneys, old fashioned lemonade, second hand books, sweets, strawberry cream teas and a barbeque. Family fun in the park including Punch and Judy, a pirate ship with a treasure hunt, coconut shy tombola, guessing games and stocks with guest appearances(!). April 2009 - Playpark Maintenance Update
A big thankyou to all who came along to the spring playpark maintenance day - one of the best attended days in recent years allowed us to get lots done! Unfortunately, we had to remove the parallel bars this year as the bases of the supports had rotted beyond repair. However, a new basketball hoop for the smaller children, as well as repainting the hopscotch grid and a general tidy up will hopefully make up for the loss...

For all keen nature lovers and birdwatchers, you can now keep in touch with the local barn own population and share information and news with other "twitchers" - read the first newsletter of the Vale Barn Owls Conservation Group here.

2008 - Thankyou! and New Dates for the Diary
Thankyou to all who came along (Iain, Duncan, Tim S, Tim H, Chris and Nathaniel) and helped paint the fencing at the playpark on Saturday - there's still a 12ft section left to finish of the front fence - any volunteers? The next playpark committee meeting is at The Peacock Inn on Monday 3rd November at 8pm. As the playpark is both funded and maintained by local families, it's essential that everyone tries to give their time or their money (or both!) to ensure that this resource stays open - please do come along if you can.
There are also some new village events scheduled in November and December to help raise funds for St Peter's - have a look in the diary section for details.

2008 - Mum's Market and Playpark Maintenance Day
Come along to this evening event at The Peacock Inn, Redmile on Thursday 30th October and support your local toddler and baby group! Download the poster here for more details...
Also, please come along to the playpark on Saturday 25th October and help with some refurbishment ready for the winter - old clothes and a sense of humour essential!

2008 - Summer Ball Cancelled
The 2008 Redmile Summer Ball, which was to be held on Friday 20th June 2008 at The Peacock Inn, has been postponed. For more details, and pictures of last year's ball, click here.

2007 - Playpark Maintenance Day Update
The playpark committee would like to thank those hardy souls who turned up on Saturday 27th October and helped repair the small climber, small slide and the picnic tables. Additionally, many thanks to Brendon who organised the day, collected the materials and erected the new fence along the rear edge of the park. The next committee meeting is in the diary for January - more members would be welcome to ensure that we can keep the park open and safe for our many hundreds of annual visitors.

2007 - Playpark Maintenance Day and Cheese & Wine Update
The playpark committee are organising a maintenance day for SATURDAY 27TH OCTOBER and would like your support to help spruce up the park before winter arrives. If possible, please contact us beforehand to let us know you're coming or just turn up on the day.
No experience/skills/tools necessary; just a sense of humour and some community spirit!
Also recently held was Louise's annual cheese and wine evening which, through a combination of ticket sales and some great raffle prizes, raised over £400 for the playpark fund this year. Thanks to Louise and Richard for hosting so effortlessly!
July
2007 - Village Events Update
Two
great events, the Redmile Summer Ball and a village barbecue
were held in late June and mid-July, raising over £1000
to help fund the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Playpark. For those who haven't
yet seen themselves in OK! magazine, there are photos of the
Ball available here...
Additionally, St Peter's Church held the annual
church fair (inside due to the inclement weather!) on Saturday
7th July and raised £260. However, St Peter's is in need
of additional assistance to help meet its operational costs
over the coming years and all interested parties are cordially
invited to attend the fundraising kick-off in September - details
in the diary.

2007 - NHW Update
Overnight
Monday 9th/Tuesday 10th, a van was broken into in Redmile and
a quantity of power tools removed. Anyone with relevant information
should contact Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222.

2007 - Parish
Council - Redmile Nomination Required
The
Local Elections are round the corner in early May and Melton
BC have raised the need for a second Redmile resident who would
be willing to stand for the six-seat parish
council.
A
more formal notice will appear shortly on the village noticeboard
adjacent to the playpark or contact
us if you would like more details in the interim.

Update

2007 Easter Egg Hunt raised lots of money to help support the

2007 - Playpark Fundraiser Update
The
first two events of the Playpark fundraising calendar are unveiled.
On Thursday 29th March there will be a Children & Toddler's
Easter Egg hunt starting at 3.30pm in the park (£2 per
child) - details in the Diary section.
For
the grown-ups, a Summer Ball is
being organised - to be held at the Peacock Inn on Friday 29th
June. This promises to be the social event of the summer
and places are limited - so book early!

2007 - NHW Update
Leicestershire
police would like all locals to be vigilant of suspicious door-to-door
salespeople, currently offering dusters in this area.
In
addition, on Thursday 15th March, a jack russell terrier named
Tizzy was stolen from a garden in Waltham on the Wolds. Police
are warning all pet owners to be vigilant following the theft
of an additional four dogs from a nearby village within the
last month.

March
and April are shaping up to be busy months in the village with
Mother's Day and Easter activities featuring high in the website Diary section.
Also in March is this year's annual
parish meeting, to be held at 7.30pm on Monday the 12th
March at Plungar Village Hall, which offers you a convenient
opportunity to discuss your thoughts on the running of the village
directly with council members.
And, as the weather improves with the spring, this year's playpark
maintenance rota swings into action and will be complemented
by a soon-to-be-announced series of fundraising events - many
thanks to all who give up their time to help.
